FAST is a not for profit organization
that helps United States Airsoft enthusiasts collectively
influence the development and implementat
ion of national
policy and apply creative leadership to Airsoft related
issues. We develop and implement
national strategies for issues related to Airsoft through consensus building
to support local and regional entities. Our members come from all walks of
life including players, collectors, manufacturers, field owners, event
promoters, publishers, theatrical interests, competition shooters, law
enforcement, and small businesses. The Federation is dedicated
to promoting the safe and responsible use of Airsoft models.
FAST is working on
critical issues:

instructor for the class and FAST task chair for law

Airsoft models allow us to train for the most dangerous
si
tuations without worrying about a real firearm injuring one
of your team in an accident.? This is the first in a series of
classes that FAST will host nationally to teach law
enforcement instructors how to integrate Airsoft models into
their training curriculum. To request a class at your law
enforcement agency or or more information please see our

Proposed Airsoft Ban in New Jersey
Breaking News: Working
with FAST members of the NJ Law and Public Safety Committee
have agreed to consider amendments to the bill before it moves
forward.FAST has fully supported the players and player organizations in the north
eastern United States that have been opposing the New Jersey state
government's efforts to criminalize the sale and possession of ai
r g
uns
including Airsoft models. FAST has started a legal fund and has retained
legal council specifically to stop this and similar legislation in the
United States. If your region is considering laws to limit the sale and
possession of Airsoft models please contact the FAST
Office of Public
Affairs for assistance. For more information please see our
press room.
Standards for Airsoft Safety Equipment
FAST is fully supporting the efforts of players and gear manufacturers to
create standards governing Airsoft safety equipment. On May 8th a FAST
representative was elected as the chair of the new ASTM task group on
Standard Specification for Eye Protective Devices for Airsoft Sports.
Standards are a top priority for FAST since they are required by
individuals, companies, and government for guidance, will reduce injuries by
allowing the companies to develop specialized products, and allow field
owners to meet minimum safety standards when purchasing equipment.
Background: Airsoft as a sport is growing substantially in
the United States and is already a significant industry in
Japan and over seas. Safety must be a p
rimary concern of all
those involved. Without consensus built authoritative
international standards the users don't have access to proper
equipment. This is a perfect example of manufactures and
users coming together to create a standard that will benefit
many groups. An individual "Matt Kuss" contacted the ASTM
indicating interest from the user community. Organizations
such as the Airsoft Safety Council and the Federation of
Airsoft Standards and Training worked with manufacturers ESS
and SCOTT to stand up the task group under the Sponsoring
Subcommittee: F08.57.
Stay tuned for more
information.
